The Killer Angels

This book is 325 pages and is written by Michael Shaara. The narrators are multiple generals during the Civil War including Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, and Joshua Chamberlain. The whole story is about the Battle of Gettysburg. Most of the book describes the meetings between the Confederate generals. Most of the time they talk about tactics. As you get to know these men you grow to respect them for their kindness to their soldiers. Even though these men are defending the side of slave owners they earn your respect. In the book they are not depicted as men who support slavery, but as people who are doing their job.  The book gives good visual images of the different regiments surrounding Gettysburg at different times during the battle.

I thought the characters were very well-developed and interesting. I enjoyed this book, mostly because of its great detail. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy history novels. I would give this book three stars.
